Backyard Bird Photography

Ever since the move, I havenโ€™t been able to do any backyard bird photography. I’m missing the variety of birds that were always right outside my window. I never thought that Iโ€™d be the type to have multiple feeding stations- well, at least not in my thirties.

I am hoping to get my new backyard feeders set up within the next couple of weeks. Iโ€™m excited to see what species Iโ€™ll be able to photograph down here, especially in the winter. Iโ€™m really hoping to get a photo of an Indigo Bunting this year.

To try to fill my backyard birding void, Iโ€™ve been scrolling through my archives and I stumbled across this image of a Carolina Wren that I took in December of 2022.ย

I took this shot with my Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens. I absolutely love this lens. There is a slight learning curve to it, and itโ€™s pretty heavy to hand hold at 4.25lbs, but with practice it gets easier. Though, Iโ€™d highly recommend a tripod if youโ€™re going to do any video work with it.

Iโ€™d love to get a native Nikon lens in the future, but for those on a budget, the Sigma is definitely a fantastic choice.ย
